Little Bites, Big Stories

What dish remind you of home?

Little Bites, Big Stories is a children’s book I wrote and illustrated to celebrate the beautiful connection between food, culture, and community. The project was supported by Guild Festival Theatre and Canada Service Corps, and it’s been one of my most meaningful undertakings to date.

I have a technical background in cooking and baking—and a lifelong love for eating, sharing meals, and jumping into new creative projects. This book tells the stories of six individuals who, like me, have roots in Scarborough, Ontario. Growing up in Scarborough, I was lucky to always be surrounded by delicious, diverse foods that told stories far beyond the plate.

Many of the recipes in this book have never been written down before. They come from first-generation Scarborough residents whose cultures are deeply tied to the meals shared at home. Little Bites, Big Stories is my way of honouring those stories—and showing that in Scarborough, good things truly do grow here.
